The Boundless CFX is pretty straightforward to clean. A quick brush or wipe to the oven and screen is all you’ll probably need most of the time, but it’s good to give your vape a good cleaning after putting some mileage on it. If you go too long, and notice a funky smell or a drop in airflow, it’s time for a deep cleaning. We’ll walk you through the process and get you back up and running with a clean vape.
What you’ll need
You’ll only need a few household items to clean your CF - some rubbing alcohol, cotton swabs, and a glass container to soak a few pieces. The included brush is perfect for clearing out the oven, but you’ll need some smaller pipe cleaners to get inside the mouthpiece.
Take mouthpiece apart
There are three main pieces of the mouthpiece that you’ll separate and clean - the mouthpiece, mouthpiece stem, and the screen assembly. With the mouthpiece still attached to the vape, rotate the stem outwards as if you were going to hit it, and lift upwards to separate the two halves of the mouthpiece. From here, you’ll be able to see how much buildup and gunk made its way into the screen assembly. Remove the bottom half of the mouthpiece from the CF with a counter-clockwise twist, and unscrew the metal screen assembly. If the metal screen won’t come loose, press down on it from the other side while giving it a twist, or heat up the CF and give it a couple of short puffs to loosen it up.
Soak or wipe
Soak all the metal parts for as long as necessary (including the oven screen, see next paragraph) in the glass with some rubbing alcohol. You may have some debris inside the mouthpiece stem after a lot of use. Take the stem off of the top half of the mouthpiece and either use a small pipe cleaner to dig it out, or just try to blow it out of one of the ends. Boundless has stated that you can soak the plastic pieces in isopropyl alcohol, bot for no longer than ten minutes. Remove all the pieces after soaking, and give them a good rinse before setting them out to dry.
Depending on how old your CFX is, your oven screen will either fall out, or can only be removed by prying it out with something pointy. If yours has to be pried out, you’re likely to mangle the screen while removing it. After cleaning, flatten it out to reuse it, or use any screen that fits.
Brush and wipe the oven
The oven can be cleaned out with a quick brushing and wipe down. Brush out the oven with the brush that came with the CF. Moisten a cotton swab in the alcohol and remove any residue on the sides and bottom of the oven. Do this while holding the CF upside down so alcohol doesn’t drip below, into the electronics.
Reassemble
Once all the pieces are nice and dry, it’s time to put it all back together! Start by putting the screen back in the oven. Give it a little push at the bottom so it stays in place. Reassemble the mouthpiece the same way it came apart. Place the screen insert inside the assembly and reattach them to the bottom half of the mouthpiece. Take the top half and reconnect the two pieces, along with the mouthpiece stem.
Finish with a burnoff
Finally, run a burnoff cycle to remove any alcohol residue. Leave the oven empty and put the mouthpiece back on. Turn the heat up to the highest setting and let it run until it automatically turns off. And now you’re set with a nice, clean CF…time to vape!
