PAX vaporizers get smarter and sleeker, but they won’t load themselves. Our small collection of tips and tricks will help you get the most out of your PAX 3 vaporizer dry herb vaporizer.
PAX 3 tips: Quick summary

Fine grind
The PAX 3 works best with a fine grind, for even heat distribution and complete extraction. We like the Magic Flight Finishing, which both produce an almost-powdery result.
Turn your regular three- or four-piece grinder upside down for a finer grind. If you're using a two-piece grinder, just give your material some extra time to ensure the right consistency.
Tight pack
A tight pack will help the heat spread throughout the bowl of your PAX 3. You can use the lid, or the PAX multi-tool, to firmly tamp down the oven's contents.
Smaller loads still need to be tightly packed for best performance, so use the the half-pack oven lid if you're using less material. I use the half-pack lid when vaping by myself.
Easy draw
A nice, easy draw is key to peak PAX performance. Like most conduction vaporizers, you will overwhelm the heater and get wispy vapor if you pull too hard on the PAX 3. A gentle, cigar-like puff is best to start, and I like to settle into short gentle draws like I’m sipping on a glass of hot tea.
Should I stir?
You probably won’t need to stir the oven contents with your PAX 3 vaporizer. Sometimes there’s a tiny amount of color left in the material that is in direct contact with the oven door since it doesn’t heat up, but it’s not enough to open it up and stir, and I’m fairly picky about that kind of stuff.
That being said, if your herbs are sticky and packed tightly enough, they will form a puck in the oven that sticks together. If you get it right you can tap the puck out on your palm, flip it, and load it back in the other way to finish it off.
Don't overfill concentrates!
There really is only one thing you don’t want to do, and that’s overfill the concentrate insert. Place a small amount in the bottom of the can between the two air intake holes. Make sure the amount is not higher than the holes.
When your dry concentrate heats up, it’s going to flatten out and spread all around the bottom of the canister and vape really well. If you put too much in, you'll end up waiting longer for it to get up to temperature, and risk it spilling out of the canister into the oven.
Keep your draws to a medium pace so you don’t pull too hard and suck the dry concentrate out of the insert. Also, with dry concentrates you can end your session whenever you want by turning it off and coming back later for more. It will cool down in the insert, so you can pick up where you left off.
