Cleaning your Arizer Solo 2 is easy, especially if you adopt a couple session habits to keep it cleaner longer:

  1. Empty the stem and oven after each session
  2. Don't pack the stem past the edge
  3. Try to keep the herb in the stem and out of the oven

Cleaning gets easier and less frequent if you try to get these two tips into your session ritual.  The longer you leave your spent herbs in the stem, the harder it will be to clean and the more it will smell and start to influence the flavor of your herbs.

Clean the stems

The stems will collect almost all of the residues that build up and is where you will focus your cleaning. Soak the stems in isopropyl alcohol (91% ISO and up works best) for an hour or two. I like to soak mine in a glass tray.

Rinse them in hot water until all the debris comes off. Repeat as necessary and rinse them thoroughly to insure all the ISO is gone and make sure the stems are dry before using them again.

Clean the oven

Even if you are meticulous you will get the oven dirty eventually.  Just lightly dampen a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and rub the dirty spots while holding the unit upside down to keep alcohol from dripping into the unit.

If you have some stubborn spots you can scrape them with something like a wooden skewer. The bowl is stainless steel, so don’t worry about hurting it.

Do a burn-off

The alcohol will evaporate off the oven but can still leave some of that nasty taste behind.  Do a burn-off by turning the Solo 2 on high and letting it run until it auto-shuts off. Do this until the alcohol smell is gone.
