What is a ball vape?
A ball vape is as simple as it sounds. It’s a vaporizer with a bunch of tiny spheres that are superheated to produce potent, full convection sessions with no additional effort from you. Thick, flavorful vapor in an instant
Ball vapes are on another level. The MiniNail Flower Wand is just a small taste of what's out there, and I’m blown away by how simple yet highly effective it is. Its superheated ruby pearls and full convection heat produce a level of extraction that sets itself apart from the rest of the dry herb vaporizer scene. Flavors are bright and potent, and the clouds are thick and intense. Vapor arrives within seconds of inhaling and quickly fills your bubbler with very little air restriction.
For flavor-heavy sessions, I sat around 445°F and never went higher than 450°F. I was blown away by how much flavor I pulled in on a single hit. Instead of a small slice, I got the entire pie in a single hit. This sweet spot highlighted the flavors, but the clouds were still at the forefront. Usually, you’d sacrifice one for the other, but that was never the case with this vape.
For the biggest hits and the thickest clouds, I bumped it up between 470°F and 490°F, and it chugged like a beast with very little effort. MiniNail recommends you max out your temp at 600°F, but I wouldn't go past 500°F. 500°F is the highest I’ll go if I want pure cloud production. It’s extra toasty and the closest to combustion that I'm comfortable with, andI recommend you stay right there or well below it.
The hardest-hitting vape I've used
I'm new to the ball vape scene, and so far, this is the hardest-hitting vape that I've used. The sheer amount of vapor and flavor it extracts on a single hit is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. It holds around 0.3g of ground herbs, but its raw power makes you feel like you’re plowing through half a gram. It’s like a heavy-duty concentrate rip straight from flower. The only things that held me back were my lungs and tolerance. It’s plenty for me and will be plenty for the average Joe and heavy hitters, too.
Little to no technique required
If you can connect a heater to a bowl and breathe, you can use this vape. Fill the bowl with as much or as little flower as you want, place the wand onto the heater, and inhale nice and slow, fast and hard, or something in between. It really is one of the easiest vapes to walk up and enjoy without a second thought.
If you want to tinker and add some technique to the mix, you can with things like oven size, temperature, and your draw speed. It’s all up to you.

My favorite vape with a bubbler setup

Great for the transitioning smoker
The MiniNail Flower Wand is an exceptional choice for those who want to switch from smoking to vaping. You can take your sessions right up to the edge of combustion or even cross it if you really need to. It can handle it, though I wouldn’t recommend going that far. With all-day power and the punch of a full convection ball vape, the Flower Wand makes it easy to move into a more potent, flavorful, and smoke-free routine.
Massive bowls: glass or titanium
The Flower Wand bowls hold a generous amount of herbs. Both the glass and titanium bowls hold at least 0.3 grams of ground herbs, which is the most I put in there. You could add more, but your herbs can scorch as they get closer to the heater.
MiniNail offers a titanium and glass bowl option with the Flower Wand. I did this review with the Glass Bowl option, which comes with a single 14mm glass connection and a passthrough carb cap. The titanium bowl comes with 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm glass connections and better durability. It also comes with a female adapter in case your bubbler has a male joint.
If you want heavier, roastier sessions, get the titanium bowl. It gets hotter, holds the heat longer, and adds a bit more ‘zing’ to your sessions. If you want more flavor, get the glass bowl.
It can also microdose
You don’t have to load up a whole lot, either. I was able to microdose with loads as small as 0.01g and still get very visible vapor that packed a micro punch. 0.01g is as small as I went, but I’d bet you could put in even less and get results.

We really wanted to make sure the Flower Wand was ready for you to buy, so we worked with MiniNail to ensure it comes with their Coil Guard preinstalled. If you buy it anywhere else, you’ll have to buy it separately and install it yourself.
You’re dealing with a hot piece of metal here, so it’s important to us that we minimize any risks. It’s a nice addition and does a great job of dissipating the heat, but it still gets plenty hot the longer it stays on, so be cautious when it’s hot and ready.
If for some reason you don’t like the coil guard, the Flower Wand comes with a small screwdriver to take it off.
MiniNail controller is easy to use
The controller is as simple as it gets: a power switch on the back and two temperature control buttons on the front. It has two extra buttons on the front, but those are for programming the internals. Don't touch those unless you know what you’re doing.
The control box has a temperature reader that displays the current temperature after you set it, and a ‘heat’ light to tell you that it’s sending heat to the wand.
If you’ve never used one of these controllers before, the recommended temperatures might throw you off. They’re really high compared to standard dry herb vaporizers. Don’t worry about that too much.
These are the temperatures I recommend:
More flavor: 400°F - 450°F
More clouds: 450°F - 500°F
Edge of combustion: > 500°F
Ready in three minutes and good for the rest of the night
The MiniNail is quick to fire up, with heat-up times at around three minutes. From a cold start, I turned the controller on and set it to 465°F. The controller will hit your temperature and continue to climb about five more degrees before it settles in. As soon as it hit 465, I placed it on the bowl, took a hit, and it ripped. So once the controller reaches your temperature, it’s ready to go for the rest of the day (or night).
Vapes all day
The MiniNail Flower Wand is a desktop vape that plugs directly into the wall for all-day sessions (or a quick one-and-done). I got it going in the morning with a single heat-up, and it stayed ready all day. I also fired it up for a quick microdose, and it was perfect as long as I had three minutes for the heat up.
Very durable (minus the glass)
Other than the Glass Bowl and your tabletop bubbler, the MiniNail Flower Wand is an extremely durable vaporizer. The handle is made from flexible silicone, and the wand itself is built from titanium. The controller is light and strong, too.

Place it on the metal stand. It’s HOT!
MiniNail includes a metal stand to prop up the Wand in between hits. The wand is HOT, so you want a safe place to put it. The stand is small and lightweight, like the rest of the setup, but it is a little finicky. It’s a bit flimsy, but it works.
There’s a little slot on the handle that the stand slides into, and once it’s in, it’s fairly locked in place. Be careful not to bump it because it will slide around. It’s not the most stable solution out there. Make sure the logo on the stand is facing you, and the wand is lying flat when you’ve got it set.
Smart stir tool and tamp included
MiniNail did a cool thing by including a stir tool and tamper nail in the package, but they took it a step further with an all-in-one solution that turns it into a true one-hand setup. The Wand has a small hole for the nail to slide into, so you can take a hit, stir the load, and tamp it down without setting anything down or picking anything up. It’s a smart, well-executed idea from MiniNail. They didn’t have to include it, but they did, and it works really well.

The downsides
The Flower Wand is an extremely hot piece of exposed metal. Unfortunately, that’s the nature of the beast, and even with the coil guard (which helps a lot), it’s not foolproof.
I also wish the included stand was more stable. It’s really easy to bump and slide along the table if you’re not careful.
Lastly, you need a bubbler to enjoy this. This isn’t a personal complaint because I love bubblers, but it is a limiting factor for those who don’t have one or don’t want to use one.

For best results
Here’s a rundown of a great first session:
1. Grind - any grinder you have will work fine.
2. Pack - Start with a lighter load and then work your way up. I recommend at least enough to cover the bottom of the bowl. Give it a light tamp, but don't pack it down tightly.
3. Temperature - I recommend you start at 460F for a great mix of flavor and clouds and then adjust it as you please from there.

Need a bubbler?
I recommend the POTV Planet Glass Bubbler. It offers a glass mouthpiece and a whip for hookah-style sessions, as well as a dedicated carb. It’s also very forgiving with the water level. More water will give that ‘chuggy’ hit. Less water will give a smoother ‘purr’.
Very easy to clean
Cleaning is very easy, and it all takes place in the bowl and with your glass bubbler. For a deep cleanse, soak your bowl in isopropyl alcohol or warm, soapy water for a few hours. Rinse and dry, and you’re good to go.

If you don’t like bubblers or don’t want to shell out extra cash for one, I would also look at all-in-one desktop options like a Volcano or Arizer XQ2, or even a portable ball vape like the Angus Enhanced.
I would also not recommend it to the occasional once-in-a-while user, low-tolerance consumers, or those who are just starting out on their herbal journeys. This vape hits very hard, and it’s very easy to overdo it if you’re not careful.
