PAX dry herb vaporizers use four lights, aka petals, for all their communication. Our PAX 2 and PAX 3 Light Guide will tell you everything you need to know about what's going on with your vaporizer. For a complete rundown of each vape, read our PAX 2 review and PAX 3 review posts.

PAX 2 vs PAX 3 Comparison

What the lights mean

  1. Heating up
  2. Temperature indicators
  3. Battery level

On Startup

Once you've gone through our PAX 2 Quickstart Guide (PAX 3 Guide is here) and are loaded up and ready for a session, click the power button embedded in the center of the mouthpiece.  The lights will turn on and pulse purple while it heats up.

The PAX 3 takes about 30 seconds to reach temperature level 3, while the PAX 2 can take almost twice as long. Once it does the lights will turn green and you're ready to vape.

Temperature

The PAX has four temperature settings accessed through the Temperature Selection Mode.  To enter this mode, with your PAX on, push down and hold the power button for a slightly extended time.

From here, your vape will display one of the temperature settings you see below in the chart.  Click the PAX button to scroll through the temperatures. Once it goes past the highest temperature, it will circle back around to the lowest.

To exit temperature mode, either press and hold the button, or simply shake the vape.

We've also included the actual temperatures that each of the settings correspond to. (Note: Temperature Setting 1 lights yellow for the PAX 2 and Green for the PAX 3.)

Temperature Setting 1
360ºF (182ºC)

Temperature Setting 2
380°F (193°C)

Temperature Setting 4

Battery Level

While your PAX vaporizer is charging, it will indicate the battery level with pulsing white lights. Once fully charged, all four lights will glow white, and stop pulsing.

You can also check the remaining battery level while the PAX is on, by giving it a shake.  The same white lights will indicate how much charge is remaining.

Use the chart below to decipher the remaining charge on your PAX.

PAX 2 One White Light - 25% Charged - Planet of the Vapes PAX 2 2 White Lights - 50% Charged - Planet of the Vapes

0 - 25% Battery

25 - 50% Battery

PAX 2 3 White Lights - 75% Charged - Planet of the Vapes PAX 2 White Lights - Fully Charged - Planet of the Vapes

50 - 75% Battery

75 - 100% Battery

Conclusion

Your PAX portable vaporizer speaks a clear but different language. It’s a thoughtful, albeit unintuitive way to communicate. Once learned, however, it says a lot with just a glance.
